Rankings: Warrington 12-36 Salford

A second successive loss for Warrington came about as a result of an extremely poor and at times downright disgraceful performance at the Halliwell Jones on Good Friday as we went down 36-12 to Salford. Time for player rankings, where not many of them have come away from the game with much credit...

1 - Daryl Clark
The most consistent performer in our squad still managed to shine in a dreadful team performance today. Defensively was sound and always chooses the right pass. He looked to make things happen today. It's nearly always the same names at the top of these rankings.

2 - Blake Austin
I felt for him today. He has so much quality and was the only one showing any of it in an attacking sense. Another try for him means he's now scored in his last five games and is the league's joint top scorer, following a trademark dummy.

3 - Ben Currie
I don't think Currie's display was anything special, but he showed heart and desire to change the game that some other players didn't. Always works hard and looks to do things with the ball.

4 - Matt Davis
I really, really like this kid. He comes onto the pitch and brings some energy and positivity. Was unlucky to see his try ruled out - at least he was trying something, which is more than can be said for most.

5 - Chris Hill
Defensively was sound and made a fair few metres with his carries. Has been one of our best players in the last few games.

6 - Jack Hughes
Made a few useful tackles and was fairly solid defensively, though it wasn't his best game by any means.

7 - Joe Philbin
He is definitely better from the bench and made a few respectable carries. I reckon he'll stay on the bench for the next few games.

8 - Mike Cooper
Cooper's displays have dropped off a little in recent weeks. He is still playing at a decent level but not quite as well as he was in the early games of the season.

9 - Jason Clark
He ranks bang in the middle for me because he did very little of note. Wasn't as offensively bad as some of the squad but equally wasn't pulling up any trees.

10 - Josh Charnley
Charnley didn't have a terrible game per se, but wasn't involved much in the play and could've had a hat-trick but for a trio of passes that went into touch. While it looked like the fault of the passer on all three occasions, Charnley maybe could've been quicker onto them.

11 - Ben Westwood
Four games out and he has to come off after 19 minutes? Not great. His performance was okay and he was probably the best defensively in the opening part of the game, but I'm concerned about how little of the game he was able to play.

12 - Bryson Goodwin
Got himself a try towards the end of the game, his first of the season funnily enough, but other than that had a poor game out wide. Admittedly it isn't his position so I'm hesitant to be too critical of him, but I'll be surprised if he keeps his place on Monday.

13 - Harvey Livett
I like Livett and was pleased to see him start today, but he never got to grips with the game and had no impact. Also gave a silly penalty away. I really wanted to see more from him today.

14 - Stefan Ratchford
Flaming hell. What is wrong with him lately? He's forgotten how to catch and looks so vulnerable under the kick. It's very concerning. Not exactly convincing with the ball in his hands either. The only positive is that he kicked the two goals he had shots at.

15 - Ben Murdoch-Masila
It frustrates me how BMM doesn't do anything of note that isn't near the tryline. We know he's got it in him, but it doesn't occur often enough. Very poor in the last two games.

16 - Ryan Atkins
I try not to give Atkins too much stick as I think he gets a lot of unfair criticism from the Wire fans, but he had a really poor day today. Twice he failed to find a free Charnley with the ball, both ending in touch. How different it could have been if a few of those passes had been more accurate.

17 - Declan Patton
I mean, I'm not really sure how to sum up Patton's performance today. I guess the best way would be to remind you all of the moment that he dropped the ball when picking it up at the back of the scrum. Wow. His tackling was atrocious and towards the end of the game he was facing the right wing and opted to kick to the left wing, where no-one was waiting for a kick. Shocking performance from a player I usually defend.

The last two games have been a real humbling. We need to win on Monday to put them behind us before this losing streak gets out of hand. Ah well, onto Hull KR we go. Check out my match report from the Salford game if you can bear it, and keep an eye on the blog for my preview for the Easter Monday clash with Hull KR.

It's always our year.
