An exciting game in East Yorkshire saw Warrington progress to the semi finals of the Challenge Cup with a win over Hull KR. Here is how I rated the squad on a big cup night...
1) Ben Currie
What a performance this was. A breathtaking tackle on George Lawler kept the lead intact early on, and he was involved in Austin and Lineham's tries, as well as grabbing one of his own late on. Sensational display.
2) Jake Mamo
Mamo looked so assured at full back and was excellent under the high ball, as well as finishing off a classy move to score the opening try. Such a likeable player.
3) Blake Austin
Austin once again put in a very good showing, scoring a try in the first half after good hands from Goodwin, while having an influence in Currie and Murdoch-Masila's tries. He also managed the game well with his kicks to touch, though made one or two errors in possession which prevent him from ranking top.
4) Sitaleki Akauola
The forward was in fine form when coming on from the bench, making a number of big tackles and slowing down Hull KR play in their territory.
5) Toby King
King had two big moments in the game and both of them were late on: firstly taking a high kick from Austin which ended up with Currie scoring a try, and secondly brilliantly collecting an attacking kick from Danny McGuire in the last minute.
6) Daryl Clark
Clark had a good game as always, and was particularly influential in the early part of the match. His influence faded slightly later on but it was still another solid performance.
7) Bryson Goodwin
The Aussie centre makes up a lot of metres every time he has a carry and this was no different - a good performance with the ball in hand other than having it stolen, which led to Crooks' try. Also got an assist with a cute pass to Austin.
8) Tom Lineham
A try for the newly-hairless Lineham on Friday night and a largely decent showing, but for a silly moment of ill-discipline which cost him ten minutes in the sin bin.
9) Mike Cooper
Cooper had a very solid game in the pack as usual, and completed a nice offload in the first half. He didn't seem to be quite as involved in the play as he sometimes is, but he was fine nonetheless.
10) Declan Patton
A very mixed game from Patton. I was really impressed with his influence in the first try - forcing a drop-out and assisting Mamo, though there were some poor moments too - discipline was a major issue and he was lucky not to be sent off.
11) Josh Charnley
There was no try for the winger for the sixth game running, but Charnley had a good game in terms of metres made when he did see the ball. Defensively he is always good, too.
12) Matt Davis
It was another very positive impact from the bench from Davis, who continues to prove his worth. Davis is becoming an important player for us this season with a string of good performances from the bench and from the off.
13) Jack Hughes
With Currie's brilliant performance, it was perhaps inevitable that Hughes would have a quieter game. I didn't notice anything he did particularly badly, he just didn't make his mark on the match.
14) Joe Philbin
This was an example of why Philbin is better utilised from the bench, in my view. He didn't have a massive impact on the game despite starting.
15) Ben Murdoch-Masila
Despite scoring a try in the second half, BMM has ranked quite lowly here, due to poor discipline, which can often be an issue with the big second rower.
16) Chris Hill
The captain made up the most metres of anyone in the squad, which is an impressive stat, though I feel he didn't captain the side particularly well in the first half when Hull KR were applying the pressure.
17) Jason Clark
I felt very disappointed with Clark's performance - he lost possession twice in key moments and didn't seem to have any real impact on the game.
Thanks for reading my rankings - let me know your thoughts! Wire march onto the semi finals of the cup in July, with a Super League fixture at home to Catalans Dragons up next.
It's always our year.
