An ill-tempered affair in Perpignan saw Warrington lose a third consecutive Super League game as our hopes of finishing 2nd were dealt another blow. Let's find out who stood out in this match...
1) Stefan Ratchford
For the second week in a row, Ratchford was our star man for me. He was one of very few people who were consistent with their handling of the ball. Made a sensational try-saving tackle in the first half too.
2) Toby King
Thought he had a very good game overall and was very solid in defence. His assist for Mamo's try in the first-half was the best bit of centre play I've seen from us all season. Outstanding work to drag two defenders in and then find the ball wide for Mamo.
3) Daryl Clark
As always, Clark was one of our top performers and was influential in the good parts of our performances. Made some great runs from dummy-half and was key to setting up both tries, as well as a top-class tackle to prevent a try in the second-half. Would've ranked top but for two unusual knock-ons early in the game.
4) Jason Clark
I've been impressed with Jason Clark in the last two weeks after months of questioning what he contributes to the team. A good performance at 13 for him, making tackles aplenty. I hope he keeps this up and nails down the loose forward position.
5) Harvey Livett
I thought Livett did well coming onto the field for his first appearance since his loan spell at Hull KR. Seemed comfortable at six, and defended the line well later on. There's a chance he could get some gametime in the halves if Austin's injury is serious.
6) Tom Lineham
I thought Lineham did well defensively and did superbly to shepherd the ball out of play right on the half-time hooter. A few moments of daft discipline though, but wasn't alone.
7) Ben Currie
Not bad in the tackling stakes, and a hard-working performance throughout. One of few who managed to avoid any discipline issues.
8) Mike Cooper
As always, Cooper was excellent defensively, though Catalans clearly won the battle of the forwards, and his yardage wasn't as impressive as usual. Also a few over-ambitious offloads.
9) Jack Hughes
16 tackles is his second lowest total of the season. I think after playing on following a knock in the first-half, he played a bit more conservatively. Hard to blame him.
10) Blake Austin
Was just getting himself into the game when he went off injured. Absolutely delightful series of steps. Praying it's not too bad.
11) Bryson Goodwin
A solid, if unspectacular, performance. Another who did well to recover from a knock.
12) Matt Davis
Did well off the bench and received a fair whack in the midst of the brawl at the end of the game. Should've been on earlier.
13) Declan Patton
Impressive first-half, awful second, which featured high tackles and shocking kicking. If Austin is out for a while, Patton is going to have to step up a lot if he wants to be the commanding leader of the halves.
14) Sitaleki Akauola
Made very little impression from the bench, which is unlike him. Needed to see more of the ball really.
15) Chris Hill
In my opinion, Hill does not have the leadership required to be Warrington captain, and this game showed it. Atrocious discipline through the game, getting himself sin-binned, his role in the brawl at the end. Shame, as this was actually a good performance - his work with the ball was good and he scored a nice try.
16) Joe Philbin
Very rare for someone as consistent as Philbin to be frequenting this area of the page, but this was really poor. Two stupid high tackles in quick succession marred his performance.
17) Jake Mamo
Where do I even begin? A horrendous drop of a high bomb, two sin-bins, one of which for something which can only be described as preposterous... the fact that he scored a try is rendered completely irrelevant when he played so badly.
It's always our year.
