Unsurprisingly, finishing last in the countdown is the Headingley debacle in February. Wire were appalling that night and put in one of their worst performances in the Super League era.

After nilling St Helens in the second game of the season, Wire put in a poor performance on an appalling playing surface a week later, losing by ten points to Wakefield.

One of the most disappointing results of the season was the Challenge Cup exit, Wire unable to defend their title from 2019. Wire got their tactics and gameplan badly wrong in terrible conditions and Salford prospered to make the final.

Wire were edged out late on with a Zak Hardaker try as Wigan came from 12-0 down to defeat their rivals, with Steve Price's men struggling to make their territory and possession count.

A game that the history books will say didn't happen, but it did. Wire nearly threw away a commanding lead against newly-promoted Toronto, and ended up staggering home to the win.

This was nearly an embarrassment. A full-strength Wire were struggling desperately to break down Leeds' youngsters until the second-half introduction of Daryl Clark.
13) Huddersfield 18-19 Warrington

The Wolves turned in an unconvincing performance as they defeated Huddersfield courtesy of a late drop-goal from Blake Austin in the second match back after restart.

A crucial win for Warrington in the early stages of the season as they edged a tight and cagey contest against Castleford, Austin knocking over a drop-goal to secure the win.

A pair of Daryl Clark tries were pivotal as Wire secured their last win of 2020 against Huddersfield, Gareth Widdop dropping a goal to put the seal on the match.

The 2020 season began for Warrington nearly ten months ago with a narrow loss away at Wigan. Co-captain Chris Hill was sent off early, and Wire put in a very respectable and encouraging showing despite being on the wrong end of the scoreline.

Perhaps the most memorable moment of 2020 was Matty Ashton racing away after great work from Declan Patton and Ben Currie to set him free and win the game late on against Castleford, with Wire down to the bare bones in terms of squad availibility.
8) Warrington 40-10 Hull KR

A new era in many ways as Warrington's first game after the restart resulted in an ultimately comfortable win over Hull KR, notching up 40 points, including a brace for Tom Lineham.
7) Warrington 30-16 Catalans

Steve Price's men made it nine wins in a row with a gritty and determined victory over Catalans, with Matty Ashton putting in a magical performance at full-back.
6) Salford 20-18 Warrington

A game which ended up being Wire putting out a team of youngsters turned out to be one of the most impressive performances of the season, Wire pushing Salford's regulars all the way and nearly pulling off a famous victory.

Blake Austin came up with a world-class performance and reminded us all of how good he can be, as Wire demolished Wakefield and kept them scoreless with a very good display.
4) Hull FC 4-38 Warrington

This was the last time Warrington played in front of a crowd, a comfortable win away at Hull. Austin and Gareth Widdop combined well as the Wire secured their first away victory of 2020.

Warrington's good recent record against St Helens continued with an excellent performance to secure passage to the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup in September, Josh Charnley bagging a brace as Wire saw out the game very professionally.

A performance full of commitment, effort, work and passion. Wire were missing ten first-teamers through injury, suspension and players being stood down yet came up with one of their best performances in recent years to overwhelm Hull FC and get a big win. Mike Cooper and Stefan Ratchford were especially outstanding.

Which means that the best performance of Warrington's season came in Round Two, Wire nilling defending champions St Helens and scoring tries through Daryl Clark, Tom Lineham and Josh Charnley. Wire's defence was impeccable all match and they worked all night to ensure Saints remained on zero. Saints were missing Lachlan Coote and Alex Walmsley, but this was still a brilliant display from Steve Price's team.
